Re: Vrees' Commandoes AKA Victor Charlie, 122 Commando
Positions:
Squad Leader: This is the leader of the commando squad. Usually a
sergeant,
this person is well skilled in all aspects of covert work.
Deputy Squad Leader/Computer Expert: This person, a corporal, takes
command
of the squad if the squad leader is killed or otherwise
incapacitated. He is
also the computer expert of the squad, able to go through any amount
of
computer security, not to mention a competent hand with a blaster.
Commando Sniper: Also serving as the squad's rifleman, this commando
is an
excellent shot with a blaster rifle or blaster carbine, able to take
out
anyone of any species at any range. They live by the sniper's creed:
"One
shot, one hit, one kill," in addition to, "What you can see, you can
shoot."
Commando Explosives Expert/Concealment Specialist: As the title
says, this
person is a master of demolitions and concealment. While everyone
else in
the squad knows how to do these things, this person is the best in
the
squad. Also serves as a rifleman.
Equipment:
DC-17 Interchangeable Weapon System
Originally developed on Kamino for the clone commandoes, this weapon
has the
capability to be a blaster rifle, a sniper rifle, and an anti-armor
grenade
launcher. The blaster rifle has an effective range of 170 meters,
and a
maximum range of 225 meters (as tested). The sniper rifle's range is
unrecorded, but as the motto says, if it can be seen, it can be
shot. The
anti-armor grenade launcher is a short range weapon, with an
effecitve range
of 20 meters, and a maximum range or 60 meters. However, it can turn
a
Separatist AAT, MTT, Hellfire, or Spider Droid into rubble with one
hit.
Explosives:
Shaped Charge:
A shaped charge, also known as a breaching charge or a penetrator
charge, is
used to destroy doors, and in some cases, destroy impedements. The
charge is
made of plastique, and can easily be applied to surfaces that will
allow the
adhesive on the back of it to stick. Beware, though...it's explosive
force
can kill the unwary person who gets too close.
Thermal Detonator:
One of manhy grenades given to commandoes, the TD (short-hand
abbreviation)
is a very effective anti-personnel (especially live targets, not
droids)
weapon. Some commandos find it a good tactic to breach a door, then
throw in
a TD to clear the room. A very effective tactic, too. Has an
effective blast
radius of 25 meters all around drop point.
Sonic Detonator:
Using technology stolen by Republic Intelligence before the war from
the
Geonosian Home Guard, Army R & D developed a sonic grenade that was
very
effective as an anti-large species weapon (including Wookies,
Trandoshans,
and Barabels). It's sonic blast can kill or seriously maim anything
in its
10 meter blast radius.
Flashbang Detonator:
The flashbang emits a very bright light that temporarily blinds and
confuses
an enemy. In the three seconds that a target is confused, the
commando can
eliminate the target. This is a top secret Republic technology.
Blast radius
is estimated to be as far as the light can be seen.
Electromagnetic Detonator:
The EM pulse grenade has two uses: one, anti-droid explosive, and
electrocution device. In the anti-droid role, the EM pulse grenade,
when it
expolodes, will overload the circuits of a droid, and eventually
cause a
reaction that will deestroy the droid in a fiery shower of sparks
and flame.
Against doridekas, it can lower their shield and make the droidekas
vulnerable the smallest of blaster pistols. Blast radius is 22
meters in all
directions.
MK I Combat Backpack
This is the carry-all of the commandoes. It can hold all the gear
that a
commando needs: powerpacks, rations, water, and all sorts of things.
This
pack is carried on the back of the commando, with two shoulder
straps and a
waist strap. Maximum carry weight is 150 pounds.
Combat Rations:
Commandoes burn lots of calories, and have a high metabolism rate.
Their
food is not meant for those of us that like exquisite meals prepared
by five
star chefs. They come in packages that are a quarter of a meter
long, and an
eighth of a meter wide. Standard entrees include hawkbat eggs and
mystery
meat (it is called mystery meat because Covert Operations Command
has yet to
figure out what the meat is; all they know is that it is palatable)
for
breakfast, synthsteak and kwaruberries for lunch, and tuber stew for
dinner.
Not very appetizing to the common person, but the commandoes
consider it
luxury.
Canteen:
Standard piece of equipment. It holds eight liters of water, and is
mounted
externally of the pack. Also included are water purifying tabs for
potentially poisonous water to be made clean and drinkable.
Medkit:
Commandoes may me good soldiers, but they aren't invulnerable
either. When
they do get wounded/injured, the standard-issue medkit is a godsend.
It has
chromostring for setting broken bones, blood clotting agent,
disinfectants,
and sutures for patching up a wounded commando on the run.
Vibroblade:
The vibroblade, originally the weapon of criminals, has been adapted
for
military use due to its ability to cut through armor to get to the
skin,
flesh, and bone of an opponent. An activation stud on the handlegrip
turns
on the blade, which has a battery rated for a 10 hour continuous
charge. It
is particularly efficient for stealthy attacks.
On tactics:
Fire and Maneuver:
This is a basic maneuver meant to allow a pair of troopers to
advance while
providing cover fire for each other. It can be used to advance or to
withdraw. This is a tactic all troopers learn in boot camp.
Curved half bowl:
This is a defensive position. It is called the curver half bowl
becaujse
from the air, it will look like a curved half of a bowl or a moon.
Note:
commandos will only engage in this tactic if in the company of
supporting
infantry and air support.
Cover fire:
This involves every trooper finding a suitable firing position to
engage the
enemy with a blaster rifle, sniper rifle, anti-armor launcher, or
blaster
pistol. Once in firing position, the trooper awaits for the command
from his
squad leader to open fire.
Some Non-Verbal Hand Signals:
Two fingers, pointing at eyes means: I see (insert what is seen)
Two fingers, scissor motion: enemies (to be used in conjunction with
the
above mentioned signal)
Fingers held up: Indicates number of things seen, ec. For a number
larger
than ten, the trooper will hold up all ten fingers, pump them into
fists,
then unpump the number of extra fingers needed to show that number
One finger raised, twirling motion: Trooper performing motion has
spotted an
aerial craft
Nodding of head: Trooper acknowledges command, and is obeying
Fist raised: be alert
Open palmed hand: all troopers halt all movement immediately
Open hand, downwards waving movement: hostiles sighted, take cover!
Index finger to forehead: Set up sniping position
Fist, punching motion: set up anti-armor position
Palm down, thumb facing throat: Go in stealthily, attack with
vibroblade
(used to remove sentries quietly)
