89th Infantry
Division
Attached 24th Armored Regiment
Assigned to RAS Paragon, Acclamator-class Trans-Galactic Military
Transport Ship
89th Infantry Division:
Listed here are the types of infantry that make
up the 89th Infantry Division. Listed with each unit
type is a description and weaponry. Other equipment will be listed
separately and is generally available for all infantry types.
(Please note that some aspects have been customized for this sim,
like the color markings of armor.)
- Troopers -
These are the backbone of the Republic
military. These are the guys that are sent into the fray with guns
blazing.
DC-15 Blaster Rifle - The long-barreled DC-15
emits a powerful blue laser projectile, specially designed to shred
infantry and vehicle units alike. Very likeable. Each energy cell
can charge it for roughly 50 shots before needing a new one.
DC-15s Blaster Pistol - This emergency sidearm,
designed to be small, is portable and deadly. The DC-15s are useful
in close quarters combat and always make for good backup weapons.
Uses a rechargeable energy cell that can usually get off 15 shots
within a matter a seconds before needing to recharge itself.
Merr-Sonn V-6 Haywire Grenade - Troopers carry
a small, handheld Haywire Grenade. The device has been calibrated to
cause massive electrical disruptions to droid circuitry.
SoroSuub LXR-6 Concussion Grenade - Concussion
grenades are not as common as thermal detonators but are carried by
all troopers. The blast field created by these grenades is effective
against vehicles. They also stick to most non-biological surfaces
that do not move much or at all.
- Advanced Recon Commando (ARC) Trooper -
There troopers are the anti-tank troopers.
They have received some Commando training in order to accurately and
fully utilize their primary weapon.
Merr-Sonn PLX Missile Launcher - Versatility is
the name of the game with the Merr-Sonn PLX hand-held launcher. It
can be "dumb" fired or programmed to fire the smart GAM
(gravity-activated mode) guided missile specially designed for the
weapon.
DC-15s Blaster Pistol - This emergency sidearm,
designed to be small, is portable and deadly. The DC-15s are useful
in close quarters combat and always make for good backup weapons.
It uses a rechargeable energy cell that can usually get off 15 shots
within a matter a seconds before needing to recharge it.
Merr-Sonn V-1Thermal Detonator - Troopers carry
a smaller, battlefield version of the devastating thermal detonator.
The device has been calibrated to maximize enemy casualties.
Conner Ship Systems HX2 Mine - Whenever there
is an ARC trooper on the battlefield, proximity mines are sure to be
laying around. They are an excellent weapon to use against those who
don't watch their step. And in the heat of battle, that pretty much
means everyone.
- Pilot -
These are the troopers that are specially
trained to operate and use the vehicles that are at the disposal of
the 89th. Due to their training, they can rig and patch
minor to moderate damage done to their vehicles. For extensive
repairs, they’ll need to report back to a more qualified engineering
team with proper equipment.
Drever Corp “DN Bolt Caster” Plasma Disruptor -
Drever Corp originally created the "Phoenix II" plasma disruptor as
a tool for customs agents and spec-force commandos, for use in
breaching locked doors. But soldiers began improvising with the
tool, wielding it against battle droids and other enemies. Its
effectiveness as a weapon was undeniable and prompted Drever Corp to
develop the "DN Bolt Caster" plasma disruptor weapon. It's expensive
but effective, especially against droid armies. A charge can be
built up within the weapon for up to 6 seconds. For every second
that the charge is built up, the damage this weapon can deal
increases. However, the more that the trooper charges the weapon,
the longer it takes for it to cool down before it can be used again.
SoroSuub F-187 Fusioncutter – This is the
primary device that the pilot uses when repairing their vehicles.
It can also be used to cut through enemy emplacements to allow
troopers to pass.
- Sharpshooter -
The sharpshooters are culled from the best of the best shooters in
the army. They receive additional training referred to as “flash
training” that further heightens their abilities with sniping. The
task of the sharpshooter is only one thing: disrupting enemy forces.
DC-15x Sniper Rifle - The DC-15x is a modified
version of the standard trooper rifle, with added sights and
accuracy for long-range efficiency. It can fire 6 times before
needing to reload the energy cell.
Merr-Sonn V-1Thermal Detonator - Troopers carry
a smaller, battlefield version of the devastating thermal detonator.
The device has been calibrated to maximize enemy casualties.
Arakyd R-1 Recon Droid - The Clone Sharpshooter
can deploy a remote recon droid to gather battlefield intelligence.
It has a small built in DC-15s Blaster Pistol to allow it to become
a minor nuisance. When necessary, the recon droid can be used to
paint an enemy target and call down an orbital strike. It has a
limited energy cell that exhausts within 5 minutes of deployment.
Once exhausted, the R-1 self-detonates so as to prevent any
information it gathered from falling into enemy hands.
- Jet Trooper -
The jet trooper utilizes a limited-flight
jetpack to cover great distances very quickly. The agility of the
flying jet trooper makes him very hard to hit, and his EM Pulse
launcher can be a deadly weapon at close range.
Merr-Sonn EM Pulse Launcher - The EM Pulse
launcher fires an electro magnetic pulse outward toward targets. A
blast from this weapon has been known to cause a massive electrical
disruption capable of frying fragile droid circuitry. Each energy
cell can fire twice before needing to reload. It can also be
moderately effective against organic targets as well.
DC-17 Blaster Pistol - Jet troopers are often
stuck in intense situations and carry a better blaster pistol than
most other soldiers. The DC-17 has a higher rate of fire than its
predecessors and is extremely deadly. It can also hold a charge
longer, allowing for more shots to be fired before it needs to
recharge itself.
Merr-Sonn V-1Thermal Detonator - Troopers carry
a smaller, battlefield version of the devastating thermal detonator.
The device has been calibrated to maximize enemy casualties.
- Field Medics -
These guys have medical training and are there
to tend to the wounded on the battle field. Their main objective is
to stabilize moderate and severe wounded troopers for extraction
from the battle field and return to a field hospital.
Medpac – This emergency kit includes a variety
of life-saving drugs and bacta ointments to promote rapid healing.
Anyone who has suffered wounds and can get to a Medic can benefit
greatly from the application of the items within the medpac.
- Other Equipment -
Here is a listing of other available equipment
for the 89th troopers to use. Use and availability will
depend on each situation.
Clone Trooper Armor – Although the RAS Paragon
is made up of non-clones, they still utilize the clone armor. It is
a hard white armor, with helmets that have t-shaped visors. In the
beginning of the Clone Wars, the armor had color-coded flashes to
represent rank-no color for ranks lower than sergeant, green being
sergeants, blue being lieutenants, red being captains, yellow for
majors, purple for colonels, orange for generals, and brown for the
field marshals.
Vibrodagger – This is the trooper’s combat
knife. It is small, but can be used for multitude of things. It
does require an energy cell to use properly.
Field Kit – This is the pack that troopers use
to carry the majority of their non-combat equipment. It includes
two water canteens that are built into it with purification systems,
a sunshield roll, three days worth of food rations, two glow rods, a
breath mask, two filters (for the purification system), twelve
atmosphere canisters (to replace spent ones on the breath mask) and
an all-temperature cloak (generally used in non-combat situations).
Energy Cells – Troopers of the 89th
carry about three-dozen energy cells that is used in most of their
equipment, mainly anything requiring power that is not
self-sufficient.
Medical Kit – This is a smaller, less capable
version of the medpac that Medics use. It is usually only useful on
minor wounds to get the trooper patched up and sent back into the
fight.
24th Armored Regiment:
Here are specs and information regarding the
vehicles assigned to the RAS Paragon as part of the 24th
Armored Regiment.
All-Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE)
The squat AT-TE walker (All
Terrain Tactical Enforcer) was created by Rothan Heavy Engineering,
a subsidary of Kuat Drive Yards. Its main armament was a heavy
projectile cannon, flanked by six anti-personnel laser cannons. Five
gunners were required to operate the weapons systems, joining a
pilot and a spotter as the walker's crew. A further twenty clone
troopers could be carried in the AT-TE's two passenger compartments.
A whopping 2160 of such walkers were deployed during the Battle of
Geonosis in Attack of the Clones.
Self Propelled Heavy Artillery-Turbolaser
(SPHA-T)
It´s main weapon was a heavy
turbolaser cannon mounted on its top capable of causing terrible
damage to its foes. It also had 12 antipersonnel blasters. Its crew
consisted of 15 command crew and 10 gunners. It moved on 12 legs and
it was 30 metres long. The SPHA-T first appeared in the Battle of
Geonosis where it was instrumental in shooting down several Trade
Federation and Techno Union transport ships.
Other versions of the SPHA
walker were deployed during the Clone Wars, including Ion Cannon (SPHA-I
*), Anti-Vehicle Laser (SPHA-V *), Concussion Missile (SPHA-C
*) and Projectile (SPHA-P *) models. The SPHA models were
uniformly very slow and difficult to maneuver, and could only be
effectively used from behind friendly lines. When exposed to enemy
assault, they suffered horrendous casualties.
Some creative captains
bolstered their ship's firepower by opening the hanger doors and
having the SPHA-Ts fire out upon the Seperatist's vessels.
74-Z Speeder Bike
This is the mainstay of any
mobile force. Its high rate of speed and extreme maneuverability
make it one of the best light vehicles around. It is excellent for
scouting missions, but does have 1 forward mounted laser cannon.

Command Post
This is a platform
that is deployed to the location of a battle for army command staff
to observe and command the battle field and troops. It has a large
sensor array for keeping track of the battle field, and several
consoles and personnel to maintain contact with the various infantry
commanders and any orbiting vessels. Usually, a staff of 6 is
required to run the command post, with a communications person for
every battalion in the field. Also, a larger command staff may be
present with a large army to strategize.
