Torchwood’s Foundation:

Queen Victoria founded the Torchwood Institute to investigate and defend against the threat posed by the Doctor. Since the destruction of Torchwood One at the Battle of Canary Wharf, the mission has changed. A new Torchwood Institute emerged under the leadership of Captain Jack Harkness, and its influence in world affairs diminished.

However with the Dalek Invasion of Earth, UNIT (UNified Intelligence Taskforce) was destroyed. Based around the world many facilities were damaged and the New York base totally destroyed. In New York City, UNIT provided most of the extraterrestrial security for the United States. Without UNIT the CIA and the US Government turned to Torchwood for help.

The Modern Torchwood:

In a united effort between the two world powers Torchwood agreed to set up bases in select US cities to provide security and to better arm the human race. Their first selection, New York, became Torchwood five.

Selected to head up this new team, former UNIT commander Col. Maxwell Gibbons. He hunted down his team from across America. Some with UNIT backgrounds, some with sketchy backgrounds, some without any background at all. He assembled his team, but are they ready to meet the task at hand? To defend New York, and the human race?
